Anonymous leaderboard: see where you stand, then improve

See how hiding colleagues' names keeps the focus on your own progress and personal goals.

Anonymous leaderboard: see where you stand, then improve

Leaderboards can be motivating, but naming everyone publicly and comparing people side by side can just as easily create pressure. The video introduces a different approach: each person sees their own relative position while everyone else's name stays hidden.

Knowing where you stand

The example in the video is your ranking by focus hours. The leaderboard can be viewed at team or company level, giving people one more signal to set their own goals for the period ahead.

Built around personal progress

The question that matters is “did I improve this week?”. A relative position should be a reference point, read alongside the person's responsibilities, workload and their own progress over time.

Roll it out with clear criteria

Before you turn it on, explain which metric is ranked, the scope of the comparison and what data is shown. Never use a ranking on its own to draw conclusions about the quality of someone's work or the value of their contribution. Roles with different working rhythms need to be read in their own context.

Hiding colleagues' names on the leaderboard is the display option described in the video; it does not mean every piece of data across the whole system is anonymised. The goal is to support self-improvement while respecting the boundaries of what information is shared.
